Digby Wells Environmental appoints Richard McDonald as CEO
Following an extensive internal succession process, environmental consulting firm Digby Wells Environmental has appointed Richard McDonald CEO, with effect from June 1.
McDonald has been serving as CFO of the firm since April 2019. He is a strategic, purpose-driven executive leader with more than 20 years’ experience in finance, governance, international expansion and mergers and acquisitions, as well as in delivering growth, transformation and operational excellence across Africa.
He partnered closely with outgoing CEO Graham Trusler and the firm’s board of directors through a period of major geographic expansion, including doubling headcount and increasing shareholder returns.
“The board of Digby Wells Environmental is confident that Richard’s deep understanding of the business, strong leadership capabilities and commitment to our values will ensure continuity and position the company well for its next phase.”
From the end of May, Trusler will continue to support the business in a part-time technical advisory capacity. In addition, he will remain actively involved as a nonexecutive director, ensuring continuity of institutional knowledge and strategic guidance, the company says.
“We are pleased that the business will continue to benefit from his experience and expertise going forward,” Digby Wells Environmental's board says.
This transition reflects the company’s ongoing focus on strong governance, succession planning and long-term sustainability.
Importantly, it says, there will be no change to its commitment to staff, clients and partners.
